Salary for future promotion

I am next in line to take a management position in my company. All players agree that I will be the one to take that spot, no contention there. I'm already taking on portions of the position now, with the responsibilities to grow over a period of time for transition, maybe 6 months to a year. Ill formally be awarded the title and increase at that time.

Am I wrong to start asking about what the salary adjustment for this promotion will be?

They have only spoken in generalities thus far, have not stated an actual number or range.
