So, in late August I had went to an interview for a property manager position. Up to this point, I had talked multiple times over the phone with the employer about the position. At the interview, he showed me around the property and told me more about the position. I left the job feeling very good about the position and could tell the employer was interested in me.
He had said he would get back to me and emphasized I was free to contact him anytime if I came up with any other questions. Everything seemed great, I was certain my chances were high of receiving the position. Anyways, I waited a week and we didn't communicate. He followed up on that weekend by expressing his continued interest in me via email. His email stated he was very busy and would make sure to get back to me the following week after continuing reviewing my application materials, etc.
I did not hear back from him at all the following week and ended up sending him an email to check the status of the position. No reply from the employer.
Now here is where things get interesting. At one of my current jobs, I work part time at a farm. At this job, I have no cellular service while I am there. So, if someone tries to call me, I won't know if they called. I'm pretty certain the voicemails will go through, as I have received them before. But, I won't receive them until I have left the farm property. Additionally, I can get texts once I leave the property.
Anyways, during that week I did receive a voicemail when I returned home one day. When listening to the message, it was just a long period of silence. It was extended and I could not figure out the length, so I just deleted it. Afterwards, I became concerned that maybe it was the employer, but it glitched or something? I later attributed it to my dad, because he had said he called me that day, and maybe he left his phone on too long when he heard no reply. Therefore, leaving the long silence message.
I ended up calling the employer on Sunday and leaving a message, reaffirming my interest in the position and asking for the status. I additionally, sent an email explaining the phone situation while I am at the farm. However, he has yet to reply. What is going on? Could one of my references have given a bad review? Was it likely he did try to reach me, while I was at the farm? or is he just ghosting me?
Additionally, I had contacted the receptionist for this company today and she said the position is still open.
Should I move on? or Continue to try and contact the employer?
