Hello r/jobs! Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
I had been employed at the same place since 2012 when I turned 18 at a big retailer, but got a new job back in April in a more office-like setting.
The environment at the office however is toxic and there's no growth opportunity (this is what ultimately led me astray from my retail job as well). So, I have been looking for a new job for about a month or two.
I applied to an office position on ZipRecruiter and spoke with my potential new employer on the phone the other day on a screening call. The interviewer was explaining some details of the position and I told them about experience I have that is relevant to their needs. I've got an in-person interview Monday morning.
I am wondering though, if I need a cover letter? I HATE cover letters. Writing them always makes me feel silly and like I'd much rather tell any interviewer personally what I'm writing in the cover letter. The interviewer already has my Resume from ZipRecruiter, but I am bringing a copy of it. I am also bringing a copy of my references since I don't have that on ZipRecruiter. Should I write and bring a cover letter? I feel I'd just be repeating everything I told the interviewer in the screening call.
Thanks again for any advice you have for me!
