How does a person without friends get a better job?

I currently work as a courier for a laboratory. I hate it so much. My boss is terrible, the hours are bad, and the pay is $14/hr. I am 27 years old and just feel it's time I get something that pays more and better hours so I can take care or myself and my fiance.

My interests are computers, data entry, management, and less stress (lol)

I've never been able to take the role of a manager, everywhere I work I've just never had the opportunity.

Also I do not have a degree.

So anyone know of anything I could pursue that isnt slaving a way in a warehouse? Is it to much to ask for a decent job these days?
