pursuing a job in my career field while in college. No offers yet; should i take a better job outside my field while waiting?
Hello! To keep things short I'm a nursing student, and I'm trying to get a job as a nurse aide at a hospital to get time on the floor, as it will help get me to experience for when I graduate for my RN; the shifts work great for me as well, because I would go in 3 days a week, 12 hours and have 4 days for studying - classes start about 40 mins after I would get out.
Right now, however, I'm working in a big box hardware store. I was previously employed as a mid manager at an auto manufacturing facility but when I decided to go back to school, the schedule there just didn't work out and i needed something in a hurry, which is why i got the box store job. I've been at this place for ~6m. I put in an app at target a bit ago because they pay better while still giving the part-time flexibility that the other place does (30% increase in pay), and they just got back with me trying to schedule an interview. I want to take it until I can get a job in the hospital, but I'm afraid it will look bad that I'm jumping around so often. Should i try for the target job or just hold out?
Also, Idk if this matters, but there are only 3 hospitals in my area; do I just keep applying for jobs every time they pop up on their site? I haven't gotten a reply from most but had a phone interview for one (unfortunately it didn't matriculate into a face to face interview.) Does it look bad that I keep applying for jobs at the same company? Should I be changing my resume/interview questions?
Thanks for the help!
