Post-interview calling my references - good sign?

I had an interview on Wednesday and I think it went well! Yesterday I got a text from one of my references saying they had been called. I think I can assume this is a good sign, but how good? Am I probably one of several remaining candidates or are they preparing to make me an offer? What does it mean?
