Hey guys.. hopefully this type of post is allowed but I'm looking for advice for my Fiance. A bit of background - She's 25 and has never held a "real" corporate job. She has an Associates in business management as well as an associates in early childhood education. She has held a position at a daycare for a year and a half and other than that, has been working for private families through jobs found on care dot com. Her latest job was for a family that wanted a full time nanny to care for their child and she worked that for a year, but unfortunately they are now wanting to put their child in daycare and are letting her go.
That brings my question and my concern... besides the 1.5 year at the daycare.. all of her other experience were side jobs (nanny jobs) for cash or her latest job which was private nanny but she did receive a w2. She's 25 years old and is looking for something more stable and career-oriented, so I am trying to get her into the local blue cross to do customer support. The biggest problem is getting her resume past HR. On paper.. she has barely any experience and I know they don't count the side jobs as experience.. especially when they don't pertain to customer service or the insurance field.
I'm kind of at a loss.. I want to help her and it's difficult to get anyone to call her back. She's 25 but lacks any real world experience and its almost like a kid out of highschool trying to get someone to give them a chance.
Any suggestions? I don't really know how to "Fluff" her resume when there isn't much to put on there. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm putting her down by any means.. I just want to help her land a good job and well.. it's difficult. She's at the age where she cant just go get a minimum wage job working retail or fast food.. but I know no one will hire her for a 20+ hr job without any experience. I'm at a loss.
