How long will my former employer (fortune 500) keep records of my employment?

I am interested in applying to a job at a company i worked for just over 10 years ago. i quit the job abruptly (no notice given) because of family crisis. The problem is I quit over the phone and I'm not sure if they marked me down as terminated or quit w/o notice or something and that may hinder my chances at employment there again.

I did a lot of googling but only found stuff about the mandates by law to keep records. If anyone has experience in this realm please help. Thanks
