I know that none of you know for sure - so please be kind. I am a bit panicked and stressed and just kind of wanting to talk this through. I really want this job and felt I killed the interview and connected with the team. The hiring manager seemed excited to interview me. It just all seemed great. Until I got news of another internal candidate...
I will be speaking to the hiring manager next week as she scheduled time to do so. However, another internal candidate was scheduled time to speak with her 30 minutes before. Either one of us is getting an offer, both of us are getting declined, or she may want to ask more questions.
The only thing is this candidate has previously worked with the team. His role aligns a bit more and is more analytical. I think I did a great job explaining why my role aligns as sometimes the team doesn’t see that. Our role works directly with them just in a different area of the business. I heard he has a great relationship with them.
I’ve never worked directly with them. Met 2 of them for the first time during the interview. My “advantage” is that I’ve been there several years longer than him. He actually hasn’t been at the job for an entire year but I know that doesn’t matter. He has the same degree as me and a similar background. However his role gets promoted more often in that role than mine does.
Nonetheless I feel it’s common sense they’re going to pick him.
However in anyone’s experience have you ever seen a wild card pulled?
