Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
I was offered an applications engineer position at a start-up tech business. I've never worked at a start-up before, let alone a business where I would be the very first employee! This is completely new territory for me and I'm not sure how to negotiate my offer given the small size of the company. The current position is for part-time (so no benefits) and becomes full time once I generate enough revenue in sales. Also, I'm being paid on 100% commission. The sales goals and other duties seem like a lot of work for a part-time position, and it's not clearly stated a specific time commitment (e.g., 30 hours per week). I just want to make sure I can make these expectations while also not risking my financial stability by this pay system; I have students loans and health insurance to pay for, as I'm sure many can relate.
Any advice anyone can give me this process, as well as any comments about working for a start-up, would be greatly appreciated! I'd be happy to provide more details as requested. Thank you!
