So I know this is an over asked question. I know most people would say wear a suit.
I agreed until I really started interviewing.
I’ve been on probably 20 interviews in the last 3 months. I’ve worn a suit to 15ish of them.
5 times the interviewer made a “negative” comment about my suit. In fact at one of the interviews the interviewer insisted I take off my tie and/or jacket.
To the other 5 interviews I have a nice sports coat, tie, shirt combo. That I wear. I’ve gotten a few complements on the outfit.
Would you always wear a suit?
What if I have an interview where the company dress code is very casual? Say jeans and a company t-shirt/polo? Would a dress shirt and sports coat no tie be enough? Would a suit be to much?
Of the 20 interviews I’ve been on like 16 have lead to 2-3 and some 4th interviews. So I’m getting close to offers. I’m probably overthinking it.
