Sorry y'all, just had to vent here.
Been looking for new jobs now, and came across a wonderful position with a cool-looking company. The recruiter I had been working with was phenomenal in being transparent throughout the whole process. To summarize, I:
-
Had an initial phone call with the interviewer
-
Had another phone call with the hiring manager
-
Worked about 8 hours on a "challenge" project they provided
-
Had a follow-up video call regarding the challenge once it was completed
-
Was flown out by them to do an on-site interview
During the on-site interview everyone was incredibly nice, and the recruiter beforehand said that I essentially had the job, barring any red flags. We had talked on the phone (his personal number) and texted before I flew out, as he wanted to go over the process with me.
Once I got back home, I was met with an incredibly generic "We're sorry, but after much consideration" email. It stated in the email that they would be happy to hop on the phone to give me insight as to why I was not selected to continue. I emailed back saying I'd like to know what went wrong essentially, so that I could avoid doing whatever it may have been in the future. I received no response.
I called the recruiter, left a voice message, emailed him the following day, texted the following day, to absolutely no response. I even emailed the senior recruiter (who I had met at the interview, and had said to reach out with any additional questions), to no avail.
I'm obviously bummed I didn't get the job, but now I'm just mad that there has been absolutely no follow-up on their end. Is this unfair, or am I just expecting something I don't deserve?
