Taking a pay cut?

Boyfriend is taking a job in another state(Alabama) Cost of living is much cheaper than where we live on the east coast. Here is like $3K a month for a 2 bedroom. There is like $700-$1K for the same.

I’m currently making $40K a year and looking a prospective jobs there it’s likely I’ll be making between $17K and $20K which is significantly less than my current job.

It seems like such a low income compared to what I’m currently making, which is very low for my area.

What’s the deepest pay cut I should take?
