New job and previous disappointment

So back in March, I had interviewed with a company that flew me to their headquarters for the interview. I had prepared an extreme amount. They called me the next week and offered me the job. They said I blew all of the other candidates out of the water and there wasn’t a close runner up. This job was doing market analysis. I’d either be on the phone or behind a computer for the majority of the work. The location was sub par but the pay and relocation package was phenomenal. Lo and behold, they wanted to do a drug test. I thought nothing of it as I hadn’t partaken in anything in the 5 months leading up to it. I took the drug test confidently and expected to start soon after. For some background, this was a hair test. Hair tests are supposed to go back 90 days. They decided to shave the hair off both of my arms and I said ok. The testing facility called me and said I failed. I won’t say what for but it was something I did in November and I took the test in April. I was extremely depressed the couple months after that. I told everyone about my new job, and I mean EVERYONE. The fact that my offer was rescinded destroyed me. I did some hard thinking after the fact and realized I didn’t want to be behind a computer 8 hours a day. Today, I had my final interview in a completely different field. I feel as if I aced it. Hindsight being 20/20, I’m extremely glad I’m not in a job behind a desk 8 hours a day. I never thought I’d ever apply for a position like the one I interviewed for, but I love the idea of doing a combination of both field and office work. I get to do some things hands on, and I get to bring my business experience to a company that doesn’t have a lot of personnel that has an analytical mindset. I’ll hear more at the beginning of the week, but I’m pretty confident I got the job. My previous two jobs were financial advisor and restaurant manager. I thought I wanted to do market stuff aka that market analysis position, but I really liked the whole people aspect of my jobs. This new job will be grooming me for a superintendent position in construction. I hope to educate myself in general contracting along the way and move to a project manager so I can eventually move to project executive. I want to get my PMP and continue a path along this line. Wish me luck! If think your path isn’t right for you, it’s never too late to find something new
