So I'm unemployed. I'm looking around for jobs on indeed, and I apply to one that's located in one of the really big business districts in my city. Then, I get an email from them saying I need to take their dumbass assessment to be considered for employment. Ok, whatever. I open the link
"We're sorry, but this assessment is meant to be taken on a mobile phone."
Weird, but again, whatever. I get out my phone, open the link again, and it takes me to an assessment. It's not a mobile-friendly website, so i had to zoom in and move the screen around a lot to answer the questions, so it was odd that they mandated I take it on a phone lol.
Then, they tell me they need a picture of me. Not one from my camera roll, one I have to take right now. I take a picture of myself. Then, they tell me that they will be recording me while I take the rest of the assessment to ensure that I don't have "outside help". My browser gave me a notification saying that the website was currently using the camera.
I closed the browser right away, but I don't know if I'm overreacting? Is it normal for a company to openly record you while you're applying to work there? Has anyone else experienced this? Keep in mind, this wasn't some high-level position. It was a low-paying, entry level customer service job.
