How to tell my “two managers” who own the practice that I am going to school in the fall and I will be quitting!?

I am the only employee. The doctor and manager own the practice. I’ve only been working there since April and I have given it a good four months and I just hate it! I sit there all day doing nothing and when I can do “something” I have to ask if I can “do that.” For an example, they give out free chiropractic care to people they know so I have to ask whether or not to charge them for that day. Or whether to schedule someone at a specific time because our hours are vague. I can’t really “say” when we open or close. I just tell them what’s available.

Anyway, I have decided to pursue college after contemplating for years and this is finally the push I needed to make me decide to go. I have a “lunch meeting” tomorrow and I just don’t know how to go about telling them this. I will be giving them a four week notice before I go to school in the fall which I think is plenty enough time (even if crap hits the fan and I can’t go in the fall for whatever reason, I don’t mind having no job until spring classes, so I am determined NOT to be there by September). Being that it’s just the three of us all day, it’s going to be SO awkward. Especially when the doctor tells me he has these long term goals for me to stay for years. I just can’t stay there. What do I say!? How do I say it!?
