Finding jobs that aren't posted on national job sites.

Alright, so I'm in my early 20's. I've been doing general carpentry for a couple of years, I'm no expert though, I say I've scratched the surface due to how much different thing's I've done. I don't have a formal apprenticeship in any trade. I've gone through local agency's, I've used all the major job boards, other places like indeed. I've heard for years companies will be willing to hire young people and get them into a career. Most of my jobs have been working for smaller companies with the main poncho's worried about themselves, which is reasonable because a mans has to make a living. I've been willing to travel as long as I'm able to pay my monthly lease back at home. I've applied out of my area lots and never hear anything back, as well around my area, it seems people really want employees who have already been indentured into a trade under a previous Journeyman, and I've only ever worked for one before. How do I go about searching for trades work underneath larger companies who don't post on my local boards or the national job boards? Also, I'm in MidWest Canada.
