Advice for a student who wants to find a job which uses writing.

I've started working as a kitchen porter at a restaurant for a part-time job. I hate it. I really want to find something that actually utilises the skills I've spent years of education developing, in particular writing, which I actually enjoy. As a history student, I write a lot of essays, and also have to research regularly for material. Does anyone have any suggestions for something I might be able to apply for that won't immediately make me miserable?
