I recently got a job offer from a competing company that offered a 15% raise and a signing bonus over what I'm making now. The new position would be substantially similar to my current one, but I like my current job and have a good relationship with my boss, so I'm hesitant to leave. The other factor is that raises are being announced at my current job in two weeks, but I'm pretty sure management already has an idea of what the raises will be. Would it be unwise to ask HR about the upcoming raises, revealing that I would like to consider it against the competing offer? Not even ask them to directly match the offer, just see what the raise is going to be because it's kind of weird to compare my offer salary to my current one when I know there is a raise in the very near future.
