Hey reddit,
A little background info, applied for a job internally at the job i currently work at. Was at the point of getting a job, but someone, i guess who wasn't so pleased with how i do my work, says something to the supervisor in charge of the process, that gets me a denial for the position. I found this out because the manager of the site told me. Now if you ask about me from anyone i have worked with, even the site manager, i always do good work, whatever the task may be i do it correctly and efficiently. I have never had any of my supervisors come to me saying i was slacking in any aspect of my duties.
Anyways, i know who that someone was, and i have never had any incidents with that person. So what makes me to believe what that persons motive to even say anything is that they don't want to be shown up(work ethic wise). I don't want to get into all the nitty gritty about what we do, but basically i applied for the same job that person who spoke ill on my name. My question after all this is can an employer use outside information from someone else other then the jobs and references you stated on your resume/application? if they can, then oh well, but if you can't what should i do because i was cheated out of a job by someone who has no say in how i do my work.
