I am currently employed, but I'm always looking around for new jobs to see what's out there, so my profiles are active on a few job boards. Lately, I've been getting unsolicited calls/emails from recruiters. It's a relevant job; I am a tech writer and they are tech writer jobs. However, here's where it gets strange. The jobs are always marked as "urgent" saying they need someone ASAP. They are always from people with Indian names and an India area code, and when I've spoken to them on the phone or they've left voicemails their English is very difficult to understand. The jobs are always out of my state (Texas) and usually in California and they are always extremely low paying too, I'm talking about less than 40% of what I currently make. It's just strange and suspicious and I wonder what's going on? Is this some sort of scam? If so how does it work? I'm employed at the moment so I'm not interested in taking one of these jobs or anything I'm just curious if anyone has experienced this or knows what's going on with this.
