I'm interviewing for my first ever internship. Had a first round with a recruiter and then a second round with the hiring manager. I got invited to interview for a third round and was asked for my availability for the next 3 weeks, which I gave. Week 1 passed with no word. Halfway through Week 2, the recruiter emailed me to say there are scheduling difficulties and they are shooting for Week 3. When Week 3 was half over, I reached out to the recruiter for information and was asked my availability for Week 4, which I gave. I was scheduled for 4 days with 6 interviews total.
At my Day 1 of interviews, I found out something interesting. The hiring manager had told each of the people interviewing me over the 6 interviews what questions they should ask me. I learned this because one of the interviewers said to me "Hiring Manager sent each of us what questions he wants us to ask you." Then every question he asked me, he would start with "Hiring Manager wanted me to ask you..."
I'm a tad frustrated by the number of interviews for an internship position. Also, is it normal the hiring manager told everyone what to ask? It seems unnecessary to have scheduled me to interview with so many people in the organization when these are all the hiring manager's questions and he could have just asked me himself, like during the next interview we are having together on Day 3. Or had a fewer number of people interview me. Is this a typical kind of interview process (especially for an internship) or does it indicate something bad about the organization?
Edited because I forgot to add that the first two rounds (recruiter and hiring manager) were virtual. Of the 4 in Round 3, the 1 day with the hiring manager (again) is in person and the other 3 days of interviews are virtual.
