I received a raise and a bonus after being asked for salary requirements at a new job. I got the job but after I received the raise the offer is 7% under my current pay. Should I negotiate?

Hello redditors,

I have received a job offer last Friday. During the first interview I was asked about salary requirements. I asked for 10% more than I was making then. I didn't realize that I had a raise and a bonus coming. Now the company I applied to is offering me exactly what I asked for but it's a 7% pay cut from what my salary currently is.

The details: the job is work from home type of a job with free laptop, internet bill payed, and same benefits as the one I currently have. It's in cutting edge technology called golang which currently is a most paid skill out there in IT. If I stay with them for a couple of years to gather enough experience I could maybe even almost double my pay.

I put down people I work with as references. I asked them the same question I'm asking you and they uniformly answered that I should not accept a pay cut. In fact I should be only making a switch if I'm getting 20% more than I'm currently making.

I was looking for this type of a job for a year. I went through many frustrating interviews and dumb coding assignments. I want to negotiate on the offer and tell them straight that I'm not willing to accept a pay cut.

Would you agree with my decision? How do I approach the negotiations?
