My brother pursued a degree in Civil Engineering a while back at UTSA. It wasnt what he wanted to do (family pressured him), so he flunked out of school, got depressed and suicidal. Moved back to Austin about 3 years ago and has been going to the AI Art Institute in Austin. Loves it because all he ever wanted to do was game design, and hes getting pretty good at it too. Problem is getting a job. I know AI is a scam school now, but even then, getting a job with an Art degree is pretty hard in general. He graduates in a year, and the only work experience he has is working as the schools "librarian" of sorts. He wants to hopefully get hired by one of the numerous gamming companies in Austin, but were both being realistic about what will actually happen. Hes taking up coding so hopefully that helps in anyway.
So my question for those with an Art degree (from AI or any school) how did yall land a job in your industry, or in web development/ coding? If u dont work in your industry, whats some good paying jobs that doesnt require a degree that you can potentially make a career out of?
Edit: I dont think at the moment that going to another college (even ACC) is too much of an option, as im sure hes in way more debt than i am in from a 4 year. I really believe that if he went to UTSA for anything other then engineering he wouldve graduates 2 years ago. He's 24 and kinda introverted, but i love him so much and want him so badly to succeed.
