How do I get a job at a grocery store?

I'm 19F in my second year of college and I can't seem to get hired! I've applied to CVS (they have an almost two hour application process!), Target, and Publix so far for the summer and nobody seems to want me. Admittedly, I don't have any retail or much other job experience except for school activities, but I didn't think it would hurt my efforts this much ? I was hoping that if I just looked like a decent candidate then I would wow them with an interview or something. But I guess that's not enough..

So what am I doing wrong? How can I make myself look more desirable? Am I aiming too high? I really don't want to work in fast food.

Any sort of advice would be greatly appreciated!
