Hey r/jobs! I'm kind of a lurker, and this is my first post to this here subreddit.
I was trying to write a cover letter the other day and I was doing the normal google search of "How do I write a cover letter" and "best ways to write a cover letter." While I was doing that, I kind of just wrote this template that I compiled from a few different articles and how-tos that I can't remember.
This isn't supposed to be serious, but it has helped me write a few decent cover letters and it makes me laugh at myself.
I thought I would share it and if nothing else, I hope it brightens your day a bit :D

Dear Hiring Person,
This first paragraph is going to grab your attention. It's going to make you want to know more about me. I am interesting, and you’re about to find out why.
Oh, I see you're interested. Well in this paragraph I’ll give you all of my fancy shmancy qualifications for your posting. After reading this paragraph, you’ll be thinking “Wow, this is the candidate of my dreams.”
Finally, I’m going to be a little more informal. I think that you’ve gotten to know me pretty well over the last two paragraphs. So in this one, I’m going to show you how I’ll be getting to know you and your company. This is how I’ll fit in, and when you get to the bottom you’ll wonder if I was created by some divine being for this opening. Don’t rush calling me for an interview, I wrote this just for you. I’ll be waiting.
