I just started working as a med aide and caregiver at a nonprofit facility in February. I work 40+ hours/week. Last week I worked two doubles, covering for two separate sick coworkers. This morning I had a mild fever but was told to come in because "It's still your responsibility to come in if you don't find coverage." Is this true? I just moved to Oregon from California and this is the first time I've been told to work when sick. I did my 8.5 hour shift today and feel much worse now (surprise). My boss has been avoiding my calls all night and I've reached out to my coworkers but to no avail. I work from 11am-7:30pm tomorrow. Should I just leave her a text telling her I can't come in? Or could they use that as a reason to fire me since I couldn't find a replacement?
