Looking for a job while employed

I'm currently working an IT technician role and im finding it extremely difficult to balance the 40 hour week against a fruitful job search. My salary is decent, but i feel that i'll be stuck on helpdesk until im 35+. Should i feel ashamed for quitting my job to full time search for a month and get my shit together? I come home everyday, the last thing i can think of doing is getting on the phone and putting on false excitement for a new job opportunity, i'm bleary eyed and exhausted. Has anyone been in this situation and can offer any advice? Is it one of those "man up pussy" moments i keep getting? The insomnia is really starting to push me to the edge
