Is it rude and have you had success calling a Salon or Spa to see if they’re hiring?

I saw a job post on Craigslist for this new salon that’s only been open for a few months. I would much prefer to send my resume directly to the hiring manager or supervisor as opposed to using Craigslist. I was considering calling this salon and asking if I could have the name and email of the hiring manager also saying a friend of mine recently used your salon and I’ve been a salon manager for years was wondering if you were hiring?

I did this once for a Job and ended up getting the position. Was wondering if the Salon industry appreciates the initiative or finds it rude
