Im very curious about other people's stories on how they worked their way up the ladder with companies/jobs and how their pay/quality of life has changed. Post them below!
I figure I'll share you my life story so far!
IT Intern ($15/hr)
My first job was through a connection and it 100% was how I was able to really continue to move forward and mainly stay on a white collared job path. I was the youngest kid in the office by about 5 years and boy was it life changing. I feel so blessed to have started with this job since it certainly catapulted me to other jobs!
University Tutor ($12/hr)
Got laid off at my previous job and could not find work for the life of me. I had to do something, so I became a tutor. You take what you get.
Summer Research Intern ($5000 stipend and housing/food for 3 months)
Got very lucky with applying for internships over the summer and landed a great research opportunity at another university!
Engineering Intern ($25/hr)
Realised research wasn't for me, so I pursued the industry. My previous experiences landed me an engineering internship at a fortune 500 company during school. This is where things started moving up really fast!
Engineer Full-Time Entry Position ($72,000 per year salary, 40 hr weeks with awesome benefits. ~ $36/hr)
A couple months into my engineering internship, I began applying to other companies since I wanted to pursue a different industry and job role after graduation. Found my dream job with the perfect company and I could not be happier with where I am at in life! I'm very eager to learn and grow/move up further with this company.
I will be graduating college next month at 21. I know I've got a lot to learn in life so feel free to give me advice. I feel so fortunate to have found a major that I enjoyed and for it to be so lucrative to where I only needed a bachelors. No student debt from scholarships is an amazing added bonus too.
