I began working as a technical writer/proposal writer at a mid-tier Federal IT contractor in August last year. Since that time, I feel that my performance has been lukewarm at times, even though I worked as a technical writer at another contractor with resounding success from early 2016 to mid-2018.
At my current position, I notice my boss sometimes rewrites my cover letters to proposals; this makes me worry that leadership will begin a paper trail to track poor performance and boot me out. In addition, I struggle at times with the disparate technologies and the disorganized use of tools across the organization (we use Salesforce, Sharepoint, Conga, Jabber, and Cisco WebEx Teams for different and sometimes overlapping reasons). Overall, I am becoming unhappy in my current job. Should I ask for my old job back? Could I salvage myself at my current position? I regularly check my HR file to see if negative reviews are added into my folder; I have not seen any to date. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I feel out of place (only black, only male on team, etc.)
