Company is flying me out for an interview. Would it be appropriate to ask for a flight back to a different city?
Basically the title. Company is interested in a final round interview with me. I found this out via voicemail later in the business day, and I left a voicemail saying that I'd like to discuss scheduling options.
Company mentioned that they would cover round-trip costs (especially flights) to interview me this Friday. However, I have a wedding to attend on Saturday, which would be 6 hours away from where I'm currently at. Would it be appropriate to ask for a different flight back to the location of the wedding? I would already have someone to drive me back to where I live, as relatives are driving up to the wedding, and I'm on the way. I would let company know of this.
I've looked up ticket prices, and the flight to the different city would be about $50 dollars more. Could I offer reimbursement on the extra 50?
If anyone needs a helpful visual, the trip would be IN -> PA -> MI, with a guaranteed ride back to IN.
Please let me know if this might overstep any boundaries. Also, if anyone knows how I could phrase this request appropriately, that would be helpful too.
