I work in a field that does some work for the government, they're our customer. Recently my boss's boss asked me if I was interested in volunteering with the campaign for an office that gives us some work. He said specifically that he could not ask me to do this. He said that I could go help during work hours and suggested a specific day of the week. It made me fairly uncomfortable, I agree with the candidate politically, I just didn't feel like saying no would be a great idea. I told him that it would be up to my boss if I could miss work but that I had some important things to do on that day especially. Now he has signed me up for volunteering on a different day.
It's my first real career job in my degree field and I'm salaried so I won't lose any money. Is this even legal?
