I currently very unhappy with my current job. I am a plumbers apprentice in construction with my father and making 15.00/hr working 9-11 hours M-Sat. I started when I was 18. I’m 21 now with the same pay and haven’t learned much with my father as he doesn’t speak English very well and I only speak English so there is a lot of miscommunication and frustration between us when I screw up.
My current position feels like a dead end with no advancement/benefits and I feel stuck because this is my only and first job. My mental/physical health is getting worse. I really feel like a loser and frankly I am getting depressed/anxious about where my life is heading. I really want to try something new and spend my energy and wit on a position I know I will be good for.
