I have had five consecutive interviews done by extremely incompetent people. Their behavior was either unprofessional, stupid, or downright rude. All the people that "interviewed" me seemed unprepared or distracted. They asked me dumb questions that made it clear they had not read my resume until I met with them. My worst experience occurred when a hiring manager emailed me asking me to come in for an interview on a date and time she selected, which I agreed to. When I arrived on the scheduled date, she was surprised to see me. She even said, "Weren't you supposed to come in last week?" She also told me that the position had been filled. Another interviewer stop our conversation about five minutes in to talk on the phone for 30 minutes. Before the phone call, he had just asked me a few questions that could have been answered by reading my resume. After he finished talking on the phone, he just rambled on about things that really weren't related to the interview while I just sat in silence. In the hour I spent there, I talked for a most three minutes. Another interviewer didn't believe I went to my university and seemed more interested in disproving my degree by asking me questions that could have also been answered by reading my resume. Is there something that I could be doing wrong that is attracting all these bad interviewers or have I just had bad luck? I'm getting tired of wasting my time and gas money with these pointless interviews. Is it ok to counter with a phone or skype interview instead of an in person one? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.
