So I'm not 100% sure if this is the best place to post this but worst case scenario I'll just have to write it again somewhere else.
So, as the title says I'm interested in getting into a political career/working with campaigns. I've been eyeing local politicians for the 2020 election that I can contact but I want to make sure I know what I'm doing first.
I'm hoping for something along the lines of a legislative assistant. I want to do research, utilize my writing/communication skills and help run a campaign without getting stuck canvassing all the time. Does anyone have any pointers on how to get started with something like this? Steps you would take? Things you would write to serve as a portfolio? Do people generally just start out volunteering and try to ask for more?
