Doctors note says to keep me at home if no suitable work, being given a bunch of busy work and not healing

Hi all,

I need perspective on this because I feel like I am emotionally charged from having injured both of my hands (RSI from lab work). I took a week off when it first happened because the pain was excruciating and I had difficulty doing a lot of basic things (grabbing anything, eating, dressing myself, driving, bathing etc). I went to see my personal PT and my PCP for a doctors note and was recovering well with rest. Originally the plan was to take an extra week off and then I would go back to work.

Unfortunately the worker's comp doc told me to go back to work because companies don't like to see injured workers resting at home. She gave me a work restriction (no lab work and only light work) and said just go to work and read a book. I returned to work and was given a bunch of deskwork by my boss and the next day after being at work I re-injured my right hand from using the mouse to make powerpoints requested by my boss. My right hand is now worse off than before and it pisses me off. I had a follow up with my worker's comp doc and told her how I had reinjured it from deskwork and she updated my work restrictions (no lab work and if there is no suitable work then I must be kept at home). I sent my boss this updated work restriction and they noticed that clause that says I must be kept home if no suitable work is available and so they are finding even more work for me from different departments.

This is really pissing me off because I know that if I got to rest an extra week before then I would be back to doing lab work quicker. But right now it's taking longer and my right hand is worse off than before (it's taking twice as long to heal now). I have been having crying spells and have been feeling very emotionally volatile and have relapsed into self harm. I am diagnosed with adjustment disorder and it's coming out full force now, I'm finding it difficult to not lose my shit at work.

I also received an email asking for my work hours and a note that I cannot leave early even if I have finished my work for the day - if I have extra time then I should be summarizing research journals etc. It's like I'm in hot water now for having medical problems and for having taken a week off despite having sick time and PTO.

I was considering threatening to voluntarily resign but my coworker talked me out of it saying that it might not be that my boss wants to keep piling on work on me but that it maybe some sort of company policy???? My coworker mentioned that the entire week I was out, they saw my boss talking with HR almost daily and that my coworker had overheard them talking about lawyers???

Can someone explain to me why my boss is being so goddamn tone deaf regarding my injury and doctors note? Is my boss secretly looking out for me???? I have a one on one with my boss tomorrow and I don't know how I'm going to behave. I know I should be professional but I'm so goddamn angry inside. We are meeting to talk about all the stuff I will be doing instead of lab work because of my injury.
