Declined an amazing opportunity...did I burn my bridges?

I work the front desk at a surgery center and do a lot of AR/AP related things. As the years have gone by, I’ve been given a lot of manager-related responsibilities and have been given quite a few substantial raises. I’m damn good at my job and I’m deeply invested in the company I work for. A few months ago, I reached out to our regional director just to introduce myself and make it known that if an opening for a manager position became available at any of the centers she manages in the surrounding area, I would love for her to consider me for the job.

Well, today was the day she called me about the exact opportunity I asked for. The problem? I’d have to relocate. The other problem? I literally JUST bought a house. I politely declined and told her the reasoning behind my declining. After our phone call, I sent her a follow up email to thank her for her consideration, apologize again for having to decline, and reiterate that I am still interested in other opportunities if they are within an hour’s driving distance away.

She was very very sweet about the whole thing, but I basically feel like a clown. I ASKED her to give me an opportunity. She GAVE me an opportunity. And I turned it down. I turned down the literal thing I asked for, and I’ve been wanting this for so so so long.

Do you think she’ll ever consider me again? I can’t help but feel like I’ve ruined my chances with her, even if an opening becomes available that is closer to me.
