So I'm asking this question because I recently was contacted by a recruiter for Northwestern Mutual. I had thought that it would be a good starting internship considering they are a Fortune 500 company and that it would look good on my resume. After my interview a lot of things just didn't seem right. They kept asking me questions about my family and I couldn't get a straight answer from the recruiter as to how I would be paid. After some research I learned that this internship is pretty much a glorified MLM scheme where I would be selling life insurance to my own friends and family. It's especially concerning considering they claimed they had the #4 best internship in the country!
My question is what other "well regarded" internships are like this so that other potential interns don't fall into the same trap as I almost did.
