I have a job interview next Thursday (second round in person) where I will by traveling to the location to interview. Flights and accommodations are accounted for and the company even said I am welcome to stay the weekend and book a flight back at a later date, as long as the price is about the same. I actually have friends in this city, so I thought that sounds like a great way to stay with them for a few days and visit. I just figure I will have to kill thursday after my interview and friday. My company actually has an office in that city that I have worked at for an extended time before for a project, so I thought maybe I could work there for the day since I will have time to kill. My boss said he was OK with that as well (he doesn't know I have an interview and don't worry, I have a good excuse where I would be near the city the day before and wanted to visit friends over the weekend).
My question is, would this be taking advantage of my current company by lying about the interview (for obvious reasons), but then going to work in their local office when I am going to interview with another company the day before on their dime? I have a guilty conscience and don't know if this is wrong to do?
