Is it unethical to leave a great job for a job with better pay? I'm a part time waitress that has been offered a part time job with an hourly pay rate above anything I've ever made. I'm also in school.
I've only been at my current job for 5 months and honestly got it through pure luck (the opportunity came from a language meetup in which the owner offered me a job in exchange for getting more language practice). The owners are great and it's a really easy job and while some weeks are great for tips... Others are horrible. I'm a student in college and I pay for everything that I own and have done so since I graduated high school so having parents/anyone else to fall back on is out of the picture. My wages have been so bad at points that I picked up a side job doing grocery delivery. While it was nice at first, I quickly realized that this wasn't sustainable since it put a lot of wear and tear on my already old car.
Anyways, I somehow lucked out again and got offered an interview through an employee at a business I frequent often and while I would love to take this opportunity, I wonder if leaving from one job to another so soon is bad? How do you not burn bridges with employers in a case like this?
My current job pays $4/hour plus tips while this other job pays $15/hour with benefits.
