Things are looking positive for this job after I’ve been looking for over six months. The job posting had a wide range for the pay: $15-$25 per hour. I have all the qualifications they ask for and a BBA. It’s a very small firm and they mention advancement and growth opportunities, they also included additional responsibilities outside of what I would consider the norm for this job title. My problem is that I have to put my two kids in a childcare program that costs about $2,000 a month, which I will not budge on. I believe the lowest I could go to make a slight profit after expenses would be $22/hr. My family is fine financially with just my husbands job, so this is basically for the experience and to get me back in the workforce. With such a big range I was worried that they were just trying to attract applicants. Would it be appropriate for me to start my pay negotiations at $25 and go no less than $22? Any opinions help, I appreciate it.
