I am looking for a job during school (I’m 24 and finally decided I want to go to college.) I have had one job for 3 years and another for 4 and was in a management position for both. Since disagreeing with the franchise and quitting my last job I’ve had 3 jobs in 3 months and I hate them all. During the interview with my current job they specifically asked why I keep leaving and how they could make sure they weren’t another job I quit quickly. I told them I needed a little freedom (I work in pizza) to do my shift well. I was referring to dealing with customer complaints and deciding what my down-time tasks would be instead of being given a list. The manager and the owner agreed and they both really like me but there’s a supervisor who gives me vibes that she hates me and resents that I’ve had more pizza management experience (it’s not anything special and I don’t go about acting superior.) This supervisor is always sitting and doing nothing when I come in for the shift change, her best friend hangs out for her whole shift to talk, and she has snapped at me on 3 occasions for doing things that I okayed with the manager before doing. Other coworkers have remarked that they enjoy how I stay busy and help them when they’re swamped because she doesn’t. I don’t want to be a better employee than my supervisor because she makes more than I do.
In addition to this there are SERIOUS health violations. The owner leave his keys and wallet on sanitary surfaces, I’ve been told not to change out rags so you never know if one was used for window cleaner, degreaser, or sanitizer. Oh and the owner’s dad came in with his fingers looking like he had just got done working on a car and started shredding mozzarella. I almost barfed.
How do I break the news to my boss that this isn’t working either? And how the heck do I find another job that doesn’t gross me out? (I quit a diner that rhymes with merkins for a similar reason)
