Hi everyone. I went through a full interview loop with a company recently, I was told by my recruiter and supervisor-to-be that everyone (5 people) in the loop were ecstatic about my performance. I demonstrated the technical skills necessary for the job flawlessly.
HOWEVER, on my resume I embellished, exaggerated, lied. First About the date I spent at my first internship. I put it as 2017 instead of 2016 to get rid of a gap, as well as how much I was paid for a help desk position at my school (I said that I was paid 15 vs it being a volunteer position to gain experience), I told the truth about my most recent job with the federal government so no issues there. I also told the truth about recently graduating (I was a full time student in between these internships and graduated fairly recently and told the truth about it).
One of the steps during the onboarding process for this company is a series of background checks through HireRight. I just received an email asking me to send W2’s for all of these positions.
Should I come clean? Can I come clean without my offer being rescinded?
Edit: hey I already spoke to my recruiter and she told me both of those things are a non issue and to just produce the W2’s for the paid positions, they don’t care about the typo and I never listed any of the positions as paid so its a non issue, you all can stop trying to shame me now, thank you for those that were earnestly trying to help navigate me through the situation
