How should I address my follow up call to a job I applied to?

I applied for a warehousing job for a well-known company, many of my friends have been hired by calling and asking for interviews. The last time I called they asked me if I applied online, in which I hadn't, now I have and it's been a week since applying what should I say? "Hi, I am calling in regards to ask for the current state of my application?" etc..
