First time posting on here. I come into work happy as usual, and I talk to one of the managers about a raise I have been expecting. Mind you, I work at a grocery store and I am only 16. Now she said I received a raise from 8.50 to 8.55. Whoop-dee-doo. I am one of their best employees, and I have to call the managers over to my register every day because people want to tell them how I’m their favorite cashier, or how they always look to see if working since I’m the fastest, such and such. So on my break I head on over to Panera to get my usual. I’m friends with a lot of the employees, and in conversation minimum wage comes up. Turns out it was raised to 8.55, so now instead of my 20 cents over minimum wage, I’m getting the bare minimum. What should I do? I feel cheated here and I take on a lot more responsibility than the average cashier due to the amount of trust the managers place in my ability to complete tasks. Should I put in my two weeks, should I also offer a proposal for a raise? How much if so? I honestly am completely lost here.
