Hi all,
So, I’ve been in the same job (janitorial, unrelated to degree) for the past 5 years. It’s been my own main job really so far in life.
I studied an English degree, and graduated 6 months ago. Since then, I’ve not had much luck with finding any kind of job. And I mean a better job, although I’m willing to take almost anything.
I look online at jobs, see what the requirements are and end up feeling stuck since they ask for a specific qualification or years of experience.
The areas I’m hoping to get into are publishing, or editing, or web stuff or health education. I’ve also thought about a job where I produce content for websites and other material such as posters and leaflets. Copywriting I believe? I do a fair bit of volunteer work but it usually leads me nowhere, how can I change that?
I know that I have a lot of interest in public health and campaign work, especially on sexual health. What could I look into for that?
My strengths are research, analytical and critical thinking, excellent communication both aurally and in writing.
Other than that, does anyone know of any options that are good for a English major? Tesol? (Preferably options which are affordable since I have debt and bills).
All help will be really appreciated. And if it helps, I’m located in Australia.
