When to call an interviewer

I had an interview on Saturday that I think went pretty well. The interviewer told me they would contact me by today (Tuesday) and I haven’t heard anything.

I don’t want to seem impatient or anything but I also need to know if I got the job or not. I’m going to wait out the day for a phone call. If I don’t get a call today when is the appropriate time to call them to see?
