So I'm rather unhappy with my job at the moment, but a new development has me even more bummed than normal about it. I'm an Assistant Manager at a restaurant at the moment. Kind of just happened into it, to be honest. I'm actually one of the go-to people when help is needed and considered to be one of the more important managers there. Note this is their words, not mine. Due to health issues I have experienced recently, I can't be full time and they want a full-time weekday manager. They want to hire someone to work Monday thru Friday and still keep me as the weekend manager. To make up my hours I would be working helper shifts, not manager shifts any day that's not Saturday or Sunday. I was informed that working helper shifts would mean my pay would go down from my manager wage to the minimum wage for my area meaning that I have to work a lot more helper shifts to offset my pay loss for my manager shifts. Aside from the pay downgrade helper shifts are much shorter shifts than the manager ones. The question I guess is this normal? This has been my first real foray into working someplace in a management position.
