Dear Hiring Managers and Recruiters of Reddit (Especially Computer Science), What Skills Do You Want To See From an Applied Mathematics Master's For Your Business?

TL/DR:

For an Applied Math Master's, what important skills / topics and domain knowledge in your industry (that I could study) would make me more broadly employable in your industry and similar industries after graduating?

Background:

I am 25, and have decided that in the next 10 months I will apply for Master's Programs in Applied Mathematics. The degree is theoretical and strongly related to understanding and developing applications. It shows you have a strong foundation for learning.

Examples include: proving that even a simple neural network can predict/forcast accurately with the right construction and training (reduce costs), showing that a problem is compatible with that ensemble of statistical techniques you really want to use (precision & accuracy), or discovering that a new analytic model or algorithm your team created is stable and efficient (productivity).

I have never held a job before, I have one blue collar internship, I have a B.S. in pure mathematics, and I will obtain a part-time job over the next 10 months. The job must be part time because I am spending time working on personal projects (programming), studying for the GRE and taking online courses in Computer Science.

I will fight hard to do an internship over the summer during my Masters.

Questions:

I'm not looking into any specific position, especially not Financial Quant because those are very hard to get. Stuff like Software Developer, Business Analyst, Statistician, Consultant interests me.

What electives would give me domain knowledge to make me broadly employable in your field? I am thinking of making my electives Finance / Business focused with some courses in Project Management, Business Administration, and(or) Finance/Econometrics/Accounting. Is this good?

Is there a specific area that's important like financial mathematics / optimization & control?

Should I try to get full time employment for 1+ years -- after the 10 months at a part time job -- before starting my Master's, even if it's in retail or as an office assistant? The current job climate is very hard on me because I don't have experience.
